Panic! At The Disco to call it quits

Panic! At The Disco will end its 19-year run, singer-songwriter Brendan Urie announced in an Instagram post, Tuesday.

Urie wrote: “Growing up in Vegas I could’ve never imagined where this life would take me. So many places all over the world, and all the friends we’ve made along the way. But sometimes a journey must end for a new one to begin.”

Urie cited that he and his wife are expecting and said that he “looks forward to this next adventure.”

He continued, “That said, I am going to bring this chapter of my life to an end and put my focus and energy on my family, and with that Panic! At The Disco will be no more.”

Urie is the only remaining original member of the band. Panic! At The Disco was formed by Urie, guitarist-songwriter Ryan Ross, and drummer Spencer Smith in Las Vegas back in 2004.

The band’s 2005 album debut “Fever You Can’t Sweat Out” with its single “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” catapulted Panic! At The Disco to stardom. By 2008, after their second album release, Ross and bassist Jon Smith bolted leaving the band with Urie, Smith and Dallon Weekes. After two more album releases, both Smith and Dallon left and in 2016, Panic! At The Disco was essentially all Urie supported by a tight touring band. Nevertheless, Urie’s Panic! At The Disco still enjoyed success with 2 more albums, namely “Pray For The Wicked” (2018) and “Viva Las Vengeance” last year.

Panic! At The Disco’s will start its final European tour with a show in Vienna on February 20 and the last show is slated for March 10 with a show in Manchester England.
