Duterte calls for effective flood control, disaster response

Vice President Sara Duterte has called for effective flood control infrastructure following the Bulacan flooding that left hundreds of families displaced.

At the same time, Duterte pushed for an effective disaster management response in reinforcing the communities' capacity to prevent the occurrence of a calamity.

She made the pronouncement during the celebration of Minasa Festival in Bustos, Bulacan, where the Office of the Vice President mounted a relief operation for residents affected by flood that was caused by the releasing of waters of nearby Angat and Ipo dams.

She then assured the victims that the government is working continuously to extend assistance to those in need.

During these times, we're already experiencing flood although there is still no typhoon. So it is important for every member of the family and of the community to know what to do during emergency situations)," she said.

Through preparation, we can manage our fear and we can prevent danger and tragedy)," she added.
