Damage to agriculture and infrastructure brought about by Super Typhoon Karding in the province of Bulacan alone has reached P1.2 billion, according to Governor Daniel R. Fernando.
Citing a report from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Fernando stated that the estimated P1.2 billion damage may still rise.
Fernando said the most affected areas wereDona Remedios Trinidad (DRT), San Miguel, San Ildefonso, and San Rafael.
He added that a declaration of a state of calamity in the other severely-affected areas may be made by next week once they receive all the reports of the damages from the three cities and 21 municipalities in the province.
He said the province incurred P10 million damage to livestock and P400 million in crops.
The province of Bulacan is seeking help from the national government, citing the insufficient budget for calamities and disaster response.
To address the problem of flooding in Bulacan, Fernando said they will continue to dredge, broaden, and deepen Bulacan rivers.
He also halted quarrying operations in the province.
