The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has decided to move the start of the printing of the ballots for the December 2022 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) to next week.

Instead of this week, Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said the start of the ballot printing was moved to next week as they made revisions in their Memorandum of Agreement with the National Printing Office.
"We revised the MOA with NPO on two factors that they offered to Comelec: Inclusion of the additional security feature of ascending serialized numbers free of charge and at no additional cost to the COMELEC; and NPO is offering the provision of warehousing and warehousing services for the ballots instead of us procuring it via competitive public bidding," he said in an interview.
The Comelec is set to print more than 91 milliom ballots for BSKE.
Meanwhile, the Comelec en banc will discuss the possibility of adjusting its Calendar of Activities for BSKE.
"One of the agenda in the en banc meeting is the possible adjustments in the Calendar of Activities by about one to two weeks, particularly the Election Period, period of prohibitions, and filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COC)," Laudiangco said during the Laging Handa public briefing.
He said this is because they do not know yet if the bill seeking to postpone the Dec. 5 polls will be approved.
The poll body has set the Election Period for the BSKE from Oct. 6 to Dec. 12, 2022 while the filing of COC is from Oct. 6 to 13, 2022.
