The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has expressed readiness for the holding of the Calaca plebiscite on Saturday, Sept. 3.

The plebiscite is to ratify the conversion of the Municipality of Calaca in the Province of Batangas into a component city to be known as the city of Calaca.
"Yes, we are 100 percent ready," Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said in an interview Friday, Sept. 2.
He said the Plebiscite Board and Plebiscite Committee were already briefed Thursday in preparation for the exercise.
"All ballots, forms and supplies have been tendered to the Municipal Treasurer, and such will be distributed to all PlebBoards and PlebComm early tomorrow morning in accordance with the General Instructions," said Laudiangco.
"All pollworkers for all clustered precincts have been duly accounted for with ready manpower reserve in case of absence," he added.
For the Calaca, Batangas Plebiscite, the Comelec printed 58,881 official ballots.
Each ballot measures 4.5" by 8" and bears the question, "PUMAPAYAG KA GA NA ANG MUNISIPALIDAD NG CALACA AY GAWING ISANG LUNGSOD NG PROBINSIYA NG BATANGAS NA KIKILALANIN BILANG LUNGSOD NG CALACA ALINSUNOD SA BATAS REPUBLIKA BILANG 11544 NA KILALA DIN BILANG CHARTER OF THE CITY OF CALACA?" Voters will write either "YES" or "OO" to vote for the approval of the proposal, or "NO" or "HINDI" to vote for its rejection, in the blank after the question.
The manual election system is used for the conduct of plebiscites, and ballots are accomplished manually by the voters by writing the answer for the approval or rejection of the proposed measure.
