Lampon urges Maguindanaoans to participate in Sept 17 plebiscite
A Catholic prelate has urged Maguindanao residents to go out and participate in the Sept. 17 plebiscite.

The Maguindanao plebiscite will determine whether or not the province will be divided into two Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur.
“My message is to go out and participate for the sake of a credible and democratic division of North and South Maguindanao," Cotabato Archbishop Angelito Lampon told Radio Veritas.
The Mindanao prelate also expressed hope that the exercise will be peaceful.
"The Bangsamoro Comelec and Philippine National Police have designated police check points all over the Maguindanao Province. (Hopefully) the plebiscite will be peaceful," said Lampon.
Last month, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Garcia also issued the same call to the people in Maguindanao.
"We call on Maguindanaoans, go out and vote. This is for your future, not ours, not for just one person," he said.
"If you want to be split into two provinces, we will respect that. If you want to stay as a single province, we will also respect that. What is important is that your voices are heard," Garcia added.
More than 800,000 registered voters are expected to cast their votes during the plebiscite.
