Artist pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II by tattooing monarch's image on client's left leg

TACLOBAN CITY – As the world mourns the death of Queen Elizabeth II, a 26-year-old tattoo artist paid tribute to the British monarch by tattooing her image on his client’s left leg.

Ramil Roy Feliciano from Cebu City took six hours to finish the Queen's portrait on his female client from Baybay City.

The owner of Roy Tattoo Collective Fireart traveled all the way to Leyte to execute the design.

"I've thought of the design to commemorate the Queen. I idolized her because of what she has done during her 70-year term. She has surpassed two pandemics," he said.

Meanwhile, the San Juanico Bridge that connects Samar and Leyte was lit in purple on Sunday, Sept. 11, in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.

Samar Gov. Sharee Ann Tan said the Queen who passed away at Balmoral Castle in Scotland at the age of 96 has inspired many Samarnon women to become leaders.

"Her life was a testament of unwavering commitment and her 70-year reign as Queen was marked with gentleness and a mother’s loving touch," she said.

She added that her sense of duty is something that people should emulate.

"From across the continents, we offer our sincere condolences to the loved ones she left behind and the people she so honorably served."

People from Eastern Visayas remember the Queen and the people of Great Britain for sending immediate help during the aftermath of super typhoon “Yolanda” (international name “Haiyan”) in 2013.
