The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is almost at 80 percent in their preparations for the December 2022 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

"As of now, we are almost at 80 percent in our preparations for the barangay and SK elections," Comelec Chairman George Garcia said during the Laging Handa public briefing Thursday, Sept. 1.
"In the coming days we will release the resolutions or guidelines on this," he added.
By mid September the Comelec will start printing the BSKE ballots at the National Printing Office in Quezon City.
In the event that the BSKE is postponed later, Garcia said, the printed ballots will not go to waste as it can still be used in the next elections.
The same, he said, goes for the the other election paraphernalia such as ballpens, ballot boxes and indelible ink.
There are several bills in Congress seeking to postpone the BSKE polls to next year.
Meanwhile, Garcia said the more than P600 million unliquidated cash advances flagged by the Commission on Audit (COA) has already been reduced to P200 million.
"As of the month of August, our unliquidated funds is down to more or less P200 million out of the P600 million plus as reported by COA," he said.
"I have instructed our Finance Department that the remaining unliquidated funds must be further reduced by half before the end of the year," added Garcia.
