Voter registration may resume in October if BSKE postponed to next year

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said voter registration may resume in October if the December 2022 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) is postponed.

"In case a law is passed and the BSKE will no longer be this Dec. 5, we will be resuming voter registration come October 2022," Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said in an interview.

He said the end of the voter’s registration depends on when the BSKE will be held.

"If it will be held in May 2023, the voter’s registration will be from October to December 2022," said Laudiangco.

"If the BSKE is moved to December 2023, it will be from October 2022 to June 2023," he added.

Once voter registration activities resume, Laudiangco said, they expect the number of voters to further increase.

At present there are 67 million barangay and 24.45 million SK voters.
