Meet Lourdes Faberes, the Filipino actress starring in Netflix's 'The Sandman'

This August, Netflix welcomes everyone to a fantasy world with the premiere of the series “The Sandman.” Based on the comic book by acclaimed English author Neil Gaiman, the show centers on Morpheus, a.k.a. Dream of the Endless, as he restores the order of his realm after being held captive for years.

The show features a stellar ensemble, which includes Tom Sturridge as the protagonist with Boyd Holbrook, Vivienne Acheampong, and Patton Oswalt as its main cast. But did you know that the show also features a Filipino actress?

In episode five of the series titled “24/7,” Filipina actress Lourdes Faberes as Kate Fletcher, a guest at 24 Hours All Nite Diner, who also became *spoiler alert* one of the victims of John Dee (portrayed by David Thewlis).

Through a tweet, Lourdes thanks Filipino fans for supporting “The Sandman” posting, “Salamat po. Sana manood and lahat ng Pinoy. I know @neilhimself loves . So proud of our 24/7. #TheSandman.”

This is not the first time Lourdes starred in a Neil Gaiman series. She also appeared in the series “Good Omens” as Pollution. The author praised her by tweeting that she is “amazing.”

Prior to starring “The Sandman” and “Good Omens,” Lourdes became part of the Repertory Philippines theater company and then moved to the United Kingdom in 1997 and studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama.

The 47-year-old actress also appeared in a number of TV shows and films such as “Whiskey Cavalier” series and “No Time to Die” and “Boiling Point” films, among others.
