Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Thursday said he expects to hear from President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. his plans on strengthening the country’s embattled healthcare system as the Philippines continue to struggle against the ill effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, among many others.
“I expect President Bongbong Marcos, Jr. to outline his legislative agenda with special focus on pandemic response and full and inclusive recovery,” Go said in a statement.
“Bilang senador, umaasa akong patuloy nating palalakasin ang ating healthcare system, may tiyak na supply ng murang pagkain, mas ligtas ang ating mga komunidad at mabilis ang magiging pagtugon sa mga sakuna at kalamidad, at mas maraming imprastraktura ang maitatayo upang mas maraming malikhang kabuhayan para sa mga Pilipino (As a senator, I hope that we can continue to strengthen our healthcare system, there is steady supply of cheaper food, safer communities and faster response to calamities and more infrastructure to be built so that Filipinos can have more livelihood opportunities),” Go said.
Go said that in response to the Marcos administration’s call for unity, and efforts to strengthen the country’s healthcare system, he filed bills that would help more people get better access to government services especially when it comes to health.
He said these include bills that seek free annual medical check-up and Comprehensive Dialysis Benefit Package for all Filipinios, Advanced Nursing Education, establishment of Centers for Disease Control and Virology Science and Technology Institute of the Philippines, and the creation of an Emergency Medical Services System.
Go also filed a measure seeking to amend the Insurance Code to check on Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO), and giving Barangay Health Workers benefits.
The senator said he also expects Marcos Jr. to tackle food security and strengthening the agriculture sector.
He also said he is vouching on the Marcos administration to continue the Duterte government’s
“Build, Build, Build” program and to continue the previous administration’s fight against corruption, criminaltiy and illegal drugs.
“Kaisa ako sa hangaring ipagpapatuloy ang mga tamang nagawa, punuan pa ang anumang pagkukulang at mas lalong pagbutihin ang ating pagseserbisyo upang lubos na maisakatuparan ang mga pangarap ng bawat Pilipino (I am one with the goal to continue the things that were done right, to fill the shortcomings and to improve public service in order to fulfill the dreams of every Filipino),” he said.
“Together and united as one hopeful Filipino nation, we will build on the successes that are already happening in our country, continue to make the lives of our people more comfortable, and ensure that no Filipino will be left behind in our road towards fuller recovery,” Go stressed.
