During the kick-off campaign of  Kugi Uswag Sugbo (Kusug)-Panaghiusa coalition on Friday, March 28, Garcia declared that he has achieved a lot since he took over following the suspension of then Mayor Michael Rama in June last year.

Rama was eventually dismissed from service in October 2024 after the Office of the Ombudsman found him guilty of nepotism.

“We have seen what we have done. We have accomplished a lot. The latest was the housing program. It is something that will be a flagship program of this administration. We have done a lot, what more can we do as a party in nine years?” Garcia said.

Garcia and his slate kicked off their campaign with a Mass and a march to the City Hall.

His running mate and campaign manager Joey Daluz III said the party’s campaign is looking bright.

Daluz said the party is confident of securing a victory as the party has been actively engaging the public since June last year.

“I am excited because this is the official campaign period, and we have 45 days to go. We are very confident that we are able to finish this campaign. Hopefully, we will be able to win this election,” Daluz said.

Families and supporters joined the party’s kick-off campaign.

Garcia explained that the coalition’s colors – red and purple – symbolize strength, unity, and victory.

The mayor added that these colors symbolize the party’s commitment to leadership and dedication to public service.

“Ultimately, colors red and purple are colors of victory,” Garcia said.

Garcia is going up against Rama, Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan’s Nestor Archival Sr., and Partido Cebuano’s Yogi Filemon Ruiz.
