In an interview, Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said the number of applications received and processed so far "manifests not just the height of the Filipinos’ interest to participate in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections as well as in other elections, but more importantly, shows their trust in the institutionalized electoral and democratic processes."
"Therefore, the whole Comelec, upon the directive of the en banc, will endeavor to facilitate the registration better, by allowing more off-site and satellite registrations, in malls and other venues which are more convenient and safer for the public," he said.
Voter registration for the December Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan polls resumed last July 4 and will end on July 23.
