Joseph Marco: No ugly duckling, she

TV hunk Joseph Marco belittles claims that ‘Hipon Girl’ Herlene Budol, his costar in “Ang Babae sa Likod ng Face Mask,” is an ugly duckling.

    Far from it.

    Proof is, Herlene has just made it to the Top 40 of the 2022 Binibining Pilipinas multi-platform pageant.

    This piece of news has thrilled them both. Joseph (“Pasion de Amor,”  “Wildflower”) has promised Herlene that if and when the latter makes it to the finals, he will surely be there at the Araneta Coliseum to cheer her on July 18.

   Meanwhile, chief producer Chris Cahilig says of the brand-new partnership between Joseph and  Herlene: “They make the best connection.”

   The two actors play unlikely co-stars in “Ang Babae sa Likod ng Face Mask,” a 13-episode romantic comedy series bankrolled by Puregold, directed by Victor Villanueva.

    Herlene was nicknamed “Hipon Girl” by Willie Revillame on his program, Wowowin, where she was a co-host.

She gamely played along, typecast as the typical dumb belle.

But, she had wit and charm that endeared her to the masses.

  “Ang Babae sa Likod ng Face Mask” tells the story of Malta (Herlene), a 25-year-old cashier, who meets the handsome but unlucky in love Sieg (Joseph). It’s love at first sight for Sieg.

    Watch how Malta and Sieg  overcome their insecurities to break the negative cycles of their past.
