Guevarra, Remulla set to meet for smooth transition at DOJ

Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra on Friday, June 3, said he will meet with incoming Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary, Cavite 7th District Rep. Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla, for a smooth transition of leadership.
“Together with our senior officials, I will give Cong. Remulla and his team a briefing on DOJ operations, programs, and projects on Thursday, June 9,” Guevarra said.
“We shall ensure a smooth and orderly transition at the DOJ,” he said.

He added that during the meeting, he will suggest to Remulla the maintenance of excellent record in anti-human trafficking, strengthening of the campaign against cybercrimes, pursuit of the three-year joint program with the United Nations on human rights promotion and protection development of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as mediation, transfer the New Bilibid Prison and professionalization of the Bureau of Corrections, regionalization of prison facilities, completion of the single carpeta system or digitization of all prison records, pursuit of the immigration modernization bill, and strengthening of relations with law enforcement agencies and the judiciary.
Remulla was selected by incoming President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to head the DOJ.
Guevarra was appointed justice secretary by President Duterte in 2018 after former Justice Secretary Vitaliano N. Aguirre II resigned.
He was a graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law and placed second in the 1985 bar examinations. Prior to his DOJ post, he was the senior deputy executive secretary.
