Just recently, Meta rolled out updated 3D Avatar to Facebook and Messenger in the Philippines. And for the first time, these new, more expressive, customizable and diverse Avatars will also be enjoyed in Instagram stories and DMs marking Instagram's first time avatars will be made available. Meta has also added new facial shapes and assistive devices for people with disabilities.

The update added wheelchairs, cochlear implants and over-the-ear hearing aids (for one or both ears) in a variety of colors, and on all platforms including VR. These updates will appear in stickers on Facebook, in Messenger chats and in DMs on Instagram.

Notice in the update fine adjustments made to skin shaders and certain facial shapes making the avatars look real.
Throughout 2021, Meta added new eyes and noses, beards and hairstyles, outfits, body types and more. New items will continue to be added to the Avatar editor throughout 2022.
