One of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte's campaign managers has called for continued vigilance amid the ongoing election, saying that the "good future of Filipinos" is what's at stake.

"Going out to cast votes is just one part of our sacred duty. Now, we must remain vigilant and ensure that all of the votes get counted, up to the very last one," House Majority Leader and reelectionist Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualdez said in a statement Monday, May 9.
"This is the only way to protect the integrity of the electoral process," Romualdez said.
"Ang botohang ito ay para sa magandang kinabukasan ng mga Pilipino, isang kinabukasan na puno ng pagmamahal sa bayan at pagkakaisa (This election is for the good future of Filipinos, a future that is filled with love of country and unity)," added the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) president.
Vigilance and the "protection of votes" became the clarion call of the UniTeam during the latter half of the campaign period.
Vice presidential bet Duterte and presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos comprise the so-called UniTeam tandem, which, as per survey results, is out to score a majority victory in the polls.
Romualdez, who is vying for his second term, is running unopposed in his district. He cast vote at V&G Memorial Elementary School in Barangay 96, Tacloban City, Leyte at 11:45 a.m. Monday.
Romualdez spent the majority of his time during the 90-day campaign period plotting out Duterte's sorties all over the country.
Meanwhile, Romualdez's wife, Tingog Party-list Rep Yedda Marie Romualdez cast her vote at the same school at 8:30 a.m.
Duterte's other campaign manager is Davao Occidental Governor Claude Bautista.
