'Nanghihinayang ako': Salceda explains why Duterte is a better fit with DSWD
Albay 2nd district Rep. Joey Salceda flat-out said Thursday, May 19 that the country would benefit more if presumptive vice president Sara Duterte took up the portfolio of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) secretary instead.

Salceda based his claim on the numerous local social development projects of the outgoing Davao City mayor. He said these projects could have been replicated on a national scale, with Duterte at the held of the DSWD.
"We can benefit more if she (Duterte) is in DSWD," the Bicol solon told reporters in a chance interview on the sidelines of a luncheon between Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) members with top speakership contender, incumbent Majority Leader Martin Romualdez. The luncheon took place at Edsa Shangrila Hotel in Mandaluyong City.
"Ang dami niyang innovation sa social development. Ang dami-dami (She has so many innovations on social development. There are so many). If you go to Davao pagdating sa early child care development, pagdating po sa mga special sectors, andami niya (there are so many in the realm of early child care development and special sectors)," Salceda gushed.
"Gusto ko yun ma-replicate nationally, ma-upscale so nanghihinayang ako. Katulad halimbawa sa hospice palliative care number one ang Davao (I want it to be replicated nationally, to be upscaled, that's why it's regretful. For example, Davao is number one in hospice palliative care). The only government palliative care unit is in Davao," said the Bicolano, who is known to be pals with Duterte.
"Andami niya po talagang innovation pagdating sa social development (She has so many innovations when it comes to social development). It's unbelievable and the country should benefit from it," he added.
Earlier this month, Duterte accepted the offer to become Department of Education (DepEd) secretary of the incoming Marcos administration.
