Rodriguez, Marcos's spokesperson and chief-of-staff, said in an ANC Headstart interview Thursday, May 12 that Duterte is very much qualified for the post.

"Is she qualified? Definitely, she is a lawyer. And the biggest qualification I think, it's indisputable: she has the confidence of the 31 million Filipinos who voted her into office. That's the biggest qualification," he said.

"And she enjoys the trust and confidence of the appointing power in president-elect Bongbong. I think that's the most important," he added.

The lady mayor served as Marcos's running mate in the just-concluded May 9 elections. The two comprise the so-called UniTeam.

"As to her competence, let's give her a chance to prove that she is able to, that she can run ably the Department of Education," Rodriguez said.

"Vice president-elect Inday Sara Duterte can lead the Department of Education well and she believes that she is up to the challenge," he stressed.
