Padilla still leads Senate race

Actor Robin Padilla remains unfazed in the number one spot in the 2022 senatorial race.

This was based on the partial, official tally of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) released Monday, May 16.

In Report No. 5 of the poll body, Padilla garnered 26,491,176 votes followed by Loren Legarda with 24,180,824 votes.

Also in the Magic 12 are Raffy Tulfo with 23,342,613 (3rd); Sherwin Gatchalian with 20,545,327 (4th); Chiz Escudero with 20,239,033 (5th); Mark Villar with 19,400,167 (6th); Alan Peter Cayetano with 19,260,370 (7th); Juan Miguel Zubiri with 18,661,089 (8th); Joel Villanueva with 18,438,664 (9th); JV Ejercito with 15,801,915 (10th); Risa Hontiveros with 15,384,530 (11th) and Jinggoy Estrada with 15,069,329 (12th).

The result was based only on 149 out of the 173 certificates of canvass that the National Board of Canvassers is expected to canvass.

It was on May 10, when the Comelec en banc, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) started officially canvassing votes for senators and party-list groups.

The Comelec is set to proclaim the 12 winning senators on Wednesday, May 18.
