Taguig-Pateros 1st district Representative and former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano continues to post impressive numbers in senatorial race surveys, and the latest Publicus Asia poll conducted last April 19 to 21 is no exception.

The Senate bet from the Nationalista Party (NP) garnered a 42.6 percent voter preference based on the results of the Publicus Asia survey, which involved 1,500 respondents nationwide.
Cayetano's score was good enough for second place overall, next only to the 46.8 percent of Sorsogon Governor Francis "Chiz" Escudero, who is also on the comeback trail for a senatorial seat in the upcoming May 9 elections.
On third place is reelectionist Senator Sherwin "Win" Gatchalian, who had a 40.5 percent voter preference.
Cayetano is running on an "eco-friendly" campaign, meaning he has shunned the use of printed materials such as posters and tarpaulins, and has even thumbed down motorcades in an effort to keep his election bid as environmentally clean as possible.
The former senator is the leading voice behind proposals to distribute P10,000 to every Filipino family as a form of aid amid the fuel price crisis and the lingering effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cayetano has insisted that such aid or ayuda is possible through the imposition of a mandatory savings rule on government agencies.
The former Speaker was also instrumental in the passage of the first two "Bayanihan" laws, which the national heavily banked on to survive the early months of the pandemic.
Cayetano has consistently posted high voter preference ratings in various surveys leading up to the polls next month.
