My scheduled international flights (kailangan talaga sabihing international ha!) with my forever travel partner Bryan Talatala (forever partner?!) were obviously cancelled during the pandemic. (bawal lumabas, bawal lumipad!) Now that we have lesser flight restrictions, travelling abroad has still some limitations. This is the reason why we recently decided to explore tourist destinations in the country. (secondary lang talaga yung sariling atin?!)
We agreed to travel to Ilocos during the holy week. (ang layo ng napagtripan ha!) Thank you to our friend Jerwin who volunteered his vehicle and his friend Marky who served as our driver and bodyguard. (bodyguard?!) It took almost 10 hours before reaching our destination. It was my first time to be on a long drive, but we had a great time. (habang kumakanta ako ng 'Like a Virgin' sa byahe!)

Our first stop was in Solsona, Ilocos Norte. Thank you to our hosts, Justine and Reia Mesina, Mommy Gloria and Chef Toper for graciously opening their home for us. (with matching non stop eating challenge ha! ang sarap ng local food recipes nila!) We took time to swim at the Karingking Falls and snapped our first set of pictorials. (habang may aringkingking music sa background!)
We also visited Vigan, Ilocos Sur and tasted the famous longganisa and bibingka. (so yun talaga ang combination ko?!) We did not waste time in strolling around Calle Crisologo where actor Coco Martin and his 'Ang Probinsyano' team recently taped their series of episodes. (ang habulan at barilan moment ni Cardo Dalisay!) We also saw the on-going construction of a mansion being owned by celebrity businesswoman Rhea Tan of Beautederm. (na meron lang naman daw 16 rooms ha!)

The highlight of our trip was the Saud Beach Resort in Pagudpud, one of the most talked-about beaches in the north. I first heard about Pagudpud from the movies of Reyna Films. Direk Carlitos Siguon Reyna shot some of his films here. (kaya feeling reyna ako rito! )
Saud is a great place for relaxation and soul searching. (isearch mo na soul bago mawala!) No crowds. Just pure beauty of nature. (super pino ng sand, super linis ng tubig! Pwedeng mag-emote nang walang istorbo!)

I also enjoyed eating miki and empanada during our whole stay in the province. Empanada has different versions in every place we visited. (kulang na lang magjowa ako ng nagluluto ng empanada!)
There are still so many things to discover and experience in Ilocos. Coming back to this great place is a good idea. (huwag lang today bilang ang haba ng byahe ha!)
