DPWH completes Sacol Riverbank slope protection project in Agusan del Norte
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced on Tuesday, March 29, the completion of the Sacol Riverbank slope protection project in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte, which it said, will serve as locals’ protection from strong river currents, especially during typhoons and heavy rains.
DPWH Secretary Roger G. Mercado said the project will be of big help to the local residents of Buenavista who had a hard time crossing the bridge, especially during heavy rains and typhoons, due to flooding. They were only able to cross the bridge using a tied rope.

“The new riverbank slope protection was constructed to effectively channel the flow of water to the proper outlet and protect nearby residents from river flooding in times of harsh weather conditions,” Mercado said in a statement.
Aside from ensuring the safety of residents, the structure now helps protect the bridge from strong river currents.
Implemented by the agency’s Agusan del Norte District Engineering Office, the project has a length of 347.6 meters upstream and 324.5 meters downstream, which amounts to P89.1 million.
