Yawi rues missed chance to face former team NXPE

Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera rued the missed chance of facing his former team as the MPL PH organizing committee handed ECHO the 2-0 victory after Nexplay Evos failed to show up in the venue for the Week 4 star match.

The much-anticipated reunion between NXPE and Yawi came as a huge disappointment with NXPE failing to arrive on time for the match slated at 8 p.m.

“Inaabangan ko syempre kasi dati kong team gusto ko talunin kaso DQ sila tsaka pinaghandaan din namin sobra yung game na ito,” said Yawi during the interview with MPL host Mara Aquino.

Yawi spent his first two seasons in the league with NXPE and was once part of its famous trio that also featured Nexplay stars John Paul “H2wo” Salonga and Renejay “RENEJAY” Barcase.

The two however was reportedly not part of the lineup that was supposed to play ECHO as head coach John Michael “Zico” Dizon opted to field rookies Michael “MP the King” Endino and Kenneth “Cadenza” Castro – two players that Yawi and Karl “Karltzy” Nepomuceno are also looking forward to face in the supposed match.

“Gusto po namin talaga sila makalaban kasi di naman po kami naghahabol ng points e parang boring lalo na nanggigil pa naman ako kay MP,” said Karltzy.

“Ngayong game alam ko di lalaro si Renejay tsaka si H2 di naka lineup dapat mangyari next round maglaro na kayo sama niyo pa si Cadenza tatlo na kayo,” added Yawi.

ECHO and NXPE will have the chance for another faceoff in the final day of the group stage on April 10.

“Sa mga nagabang ng laban sa star match ngayon sorry kasi di natuloy yung star match, DQ di kami nakapagpakita ng magandang laban,” said Yawi.
