ZAMBOANGA CITY -- A total of 800 job seekers participated in a job fair sponsored by the Department of Labor and Employment-9 (DOLE-9) and the Zamboanga local government’s PESO office at a local mall on Thursday, Feb. 24.

The job fair is one of several activities organized for Zamboanga’s 85th Charter Day or Dia de Zamboanga on February 26.
Job seekers either applied online or personally attended the activity for the 1,295 available positions from 16 employers.
“Mucho clase de trabajo sila puede man apply. Masquin hinde college graduates cay otro maga companies ta busca man sila aquel maga skilled workers,” (They can apply for different kinds of jobs. Some companies look for skilled workers even if they’re not college graduates.) said Councilor Josephine Pareja, a representative of Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar.
DOLE-9 field head Macaraya Adil said job seekers were required to undergo face-to-face registration and were made to drop their applications in a drop box in line with COVID-19 health protocols.
Some 100 applicants were also provided with rice and grocery items from the Zamboanga local government.
