Person surrenders to NBI, admits stealing actor Gerald Anderson's bags last Jan. 30

Worried of his impending arrest, a person who admitted having stolen two bags containing valuables owned by actor Gerald Anderson has surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
In a statement, the NBI identified the suspect as John Allen Dancel who gave himself up last Feb. 7 to the NBI’s Special Action Unit (NBI-SAU).
The NBI said Dancel surrendered “due to the relentless and persistent hot-pursuit operations of NBI agents.”
“Subject Dancel surrendered one (1) luxury bag belonging to the complainant (Anderson) and stated that he handed over to a certain Lianny ‘Yhang’ Carlos two (2) valuable watches belonging to the complainant, which were eventually sold for P150,000,” the NBI said.
Dancel has been presented before the Quezon City prosecutor’ office on complaint for robbery with force upon things in violation of Article 293 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC), it said.
Also in its statement, the NBI said John Louie Rosario alias “Mark Louie” and Isagani Dela Cruz alias “Gani,” both of whom remain at-large, were named co-respondents in the complaint.
The NBI said:
“According to the complaint, on Jan. 30, 2022, while Anderson was playing basketball with his friends inside his gym located in Quezon City, an individual forced open and broke the window of the complainant’s vehicle parked outside the said gym, and took two (2) bags containing the stolen items.
“A day later, a certain individual hacked the coins.ph account of Anderson using a certain mobile number.
“The mobile number used in the hacking of the Anderson’s coins.ph account belongs to Benjamin Carreon Jr., a resident of Tindalo Street, Barangay 254, Tondo, Manila.
“Investigation conducted by the NBI-SAU revealed that the perpetrators behind the robbery is a Tondo-Manila group, notorious for ‘basag kotse.’
“The perpetrators used a black Honda Click motorcycle and a mint green MIO I 125 motorcycle in the robbery of the complainant’s belongings.”
