BIR files P234M tax evasion vs. 14 Metro Manila, Bulacan taxpayers

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has filed tax evasion cases against 14 corporate and individual business taxpayers for allegedly ignoring to settle tax debts totalling to more than P234 million.

In separate criminal complaints submitted to the Department of Justice, the BIR identified the seven corporate respondents as Pink Sisters Human Resources of Valenzuela City, Cryptoins of Caloocan City, LC Builders and Developers of Valenzuela City, Netruma of West Bulacan, Global Innovation Entertainment Concepts of East Bulacan, Amazon Manufacturing of Valenzuela City, and Ahmran Trading of Caloocan.

Key officers of the companies were also included in the complaints.

Meamwhile, the seven individual business proprietors were named as Arlo Alegre of Canine Enterprises of Malolos City; Teresita De Guzman of Kids On Line Children's Wear of Guiguinto, Bulacan; Reynaldo Manlapig Jr. of Manlapig Hauling Services of Malolos City;

Basanio Caraig of Noble Steele Enterprises of San Ildefonso, Bulacan; Maria Rowena Uy of Kevin Digital Printing of Malabon City; Adoracion Policarpio of Hopewell Trading of Caloocan City; and businesswoman Merlinda Beltran of Sta. Maria, Bulacan.

Caloocan Revenue Regional Director Gerry O. Dumayas said he recommended to BIR Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay the prosecution of the accused for their refusal to settle the tax liabilities despite repeated demands

He said the continued failure of the respondents to pay the long overdue taxes constitute willful and deliberate attempt not to pay at all.

Ahmran Trading was slapped the highest deficiency taxes of P89 million, followed by Pink Sisters with P26 million and Netruma, P22 million.

The tax debts covering mostly income and value-added taxes were incurred in 2016 and prior years.
