Sotto reiterated the local government’s readiness to offer its services for the education sector ever since he began his term in 2019.

“Target nating gagawin every year, titingnan natin kung ano ang kaya natin gawin at ibigay. Hindi natin ipagdadamot ‘yun. Kung anong available funds, buong-buo at walang bawas, ibibigay po natin ‘yan. (Every year, our target is to look at what can be done and what can we give. We will not be stingy in providing resources. We will give what we can in full based on our available funds),” he said.

The mayor also expressed his gratitude to the 11th City Council, led by Vice Mayor Robert “Dodot” Jaworski Jr., for approving and supporting the allowance increase and other education programs.

Sotto made the announcement during the local Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office (SDO)’s Christmas gathering attended by personnel from the office’s first and second clusters.

He thanked the SDO officials and members for their diligence and sacrifices in managing the transition from distance learning to face-to-face that was experienced by teachers and learners alike throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Dahil sa inyo, hindi tumigil ang pag-aaral ng ating mga kabataan (Because of your efforts, education continued for our city’s youth),” he said.

Sotto reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to aid teachers in their professional development and financial capacity in order to ensure the continuous improvement of the quality of education in Pasig City.

During the 2022 celebration of National Teachers Month from Sept. 5 to Oct. 5, the Pasig City Council passed a resolution granting financial incentive worth P1,000 to all teaching and non-teaching personnel in the city’s public schools.

The local government provided laptops and other gadgets amid the pandemic to help teachers in their virtual classes.

They have also established partnerships with schools and universities that offer teacher trainings and skills development courses.

Pasig SDO Superintendent Evalou Agustin also thanked the city officials for consistently providing for the needs of the local education sector.

Agustin also announced that teachers and non-teaching personnel will receive their Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) bonus worth P5,000 on Thursday, Dec. 15.
