It’s been a little over 10 years since Angeline Quinto, dubbed the local music industry’s “Power Diva,” won the top plum in Star Power: Sharon’s Search for The Next Female Pop Superstar in 2011. Since then, after the release of her first song, “Patuloy ang Pangarap,” she has recorded a string of her own hits and even managed to claim the title “The Philippines’ Queen of Teleserye and Movie Theme Songs.” A multi-talented performer, she also has several movies and teleseryes tucked in her belt as well as a number of SRO concerts in some of the country’s most prestigious venues.
The Thrillmaker recently caught up with her in one of those live performances, this time, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater for her thanksgiving show aptly titled: 10Q or “Ten Years of Quinto.” With just a very little time to thoroughly discuss the most memorable details of her first ten years in show business, the Thrillmaker decided to talk with the “Pop Superstar” in threes, to get an abbreviated synopsis of her colorful life story since hitting the limelight.
THRILLMAKER: Congratulations, Angeline. In three words, how would you describe your first 10 years in show business?
ANGELINE QUINTO: Mahirap, Blessed at Tagumpay.
THRILLMAKER: That’s an interesting combination. How hard was it really for an Angeline Quinto to go this far?
Kailangan mong pagtrabahuhan.
THRILLMAKER: Tonight’s show is entitled 10Q or thank you. Name three people you’re most grateful to have in your life.
Then thank you sa anak ko.
THRILLMAKER: Oh, that’s touching! Please tell us some more how motherhood has changed you.
THRILLMAKER: Share with us three things that you’d like to see happening in your career in the next ten years.
On behalf of Filipino music fans, let me take his opportunity to return the favor of ten musically amazing years and tell Angeline through this column: “10Q. Thanks for your inspiring music and we wish you even more upbeat tunes in both your professional and personal lives in the many years ahead!”
