How to make the cake of your dreams come true

One of my favorite shows to leave on in the background is The Great British Bake-Off on BBC. There’s joy in watching contestants lovingly bake from scratch while they talk about their passion.

The bakers make it seem so effortless, moving about step-by-step before presenting the end product to judges. One of the show’s special episodes with comedian David Mitchell has made me realize just how difficult it is to bake something as seemingly simple as a cake.

After all, to bake a proper cake, one has to follow precise measurements and timing to get it right. New York-based M Bakery knows precisely that. Its cakes are made with care, some customized entirely for special events to make them extra and memorable.

Last Halloween, for instance, the New York-based bakeshop chain released special cakes and cupcakes such as the Monster Cupcakes decorated with lovely monster buttercream faces, Eyeball Cupcakes that come in either vanilla or chocolate variants topped with sweet icing made to resemble eyeballs, and the Boo Cupcakes, which are chocolate cupcakes topped with fluffy marshmallow-like meringue icing crafted to look like ghosts.
