Comedian and television host Ferdinand “Vhong” H. Navarro, who was charged in courts with rape and acts of lasciviousness, was transferred on Monday afternoon, Nov. 21, to the facility of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Taguig City.

In an announcement, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said: “After completing all the required health protocols, Vhong Navarro has been transferred to BJMP in Taguig City.”

It said that on Nov. 12 it received “the Order from Regional Trial Court Branch 69, to commit Ferdinand ‘Vhong’ H. Navarro to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Taguig City Jail – Male Dormitory, Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.”

Before the transfer, however, the NBI said that Navarro would “undergo the mandatory Medical Examination, including RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) test, in compliance with the health protocol requirements.”

Navarro surrendered to the NBP last Sept. 19 after the Taguig City regional trial court (RTC) issued an arrest order against him on a non-bailable case of rape.

He posted bail before the Taguig City metropolitan trial court (MeTC) on acts of lasciviousness charge.

The cases arose from the complaints of model Deniece Millinete Cornejo who accused him of sexually assaulting her in 2014.

Cornejo’s complaints had been dismissed both by the prosecutor’s office and the Department of Justice (DOJ).

However, on Cornejo’s petition, the DOJ’s resolution was reversed by the Court of Appeals which ordered the filing of the criminal charges against Navarro.
