Nearly 10,000 farmers and fisherfolk in Region 12 were awarded with another tranche of fuel subsidies from the Department of Agriculture (DA).

The DA said a total of 9,837 registered farmers and fisherfolk benefitted from the fuel subsidy program.
According to the DA Region 12, it has encouraged farmers and fishermen in the region to utilize available agricultural machinery to modernize and enhance production in the region's agriculture and fishing industries.
“As a result, one of the most substantial operational expenses in farming and fishing is fuel,” the agriculture department said.
To help them, the DA has set aside over P49 million for corn farmers and fishermen in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region through the Fuel Discount for Farmers and Fisherfolk (FDFF) Program, which aims to provide assistance to farmers and fishermen who own agricultural or fishing machinery, either individually or through organizations.
To be eligible for the fuel subsidy, the DA said a corn farmer must be registered with the RSBSA and the Farmers and Fisherfolk Registry System (FFRS).
Fisherfolk, meanwhile, must be registered with FishR (Fisher Registry) and must use motorized bancas with 3 gross tons or below, registered under (Boat Registry).
One of the beneficiaries, Fortunato Esil, a member of the Cablalan Corn Farmers’ Association received a P3,000 fuel discount card. He said the subsidy will help their corn milling operations to continue.
