The public may resume visitations to the Pasig City Cemetery (Barracks) starting Sunday afternoon, Oct. 30, said the Pasig City local government after its temporary closure on Saturday, Oct. 29, due to severe tropical storm (STS) "Paeng."
In the latest advisory posted by the Pasig Public Information Office (PIO), the cemetery was reopened following the gradual improvement of the weather.
The local government urged visitors to remain alert and vigilant for possible changes in the weather.
As of the 11 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Metro Manila is under the tropical cyclone warning signal (TCSW) No. 1. Light to moderate rains are expected to persist within the day.
The local government expects the public’s cooperation and strict adhere to its "Undas" guidelines.
The cemetery was temporarily closed on Saturday, Oct. 29, in order to ensure the safety of visitors and cemetery personnel from the heavy rains and strong winds brought by the "Paeng."
Earlier on Sunday, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said the local government is mobilizing efforts to safely reopen the cemeteries, and asked for the public's consideration.
"Sana po ay maintindihan kung bakit ito pansamantalang pinasara kahit humina na ang ulan. Kinailangan kasi ang ating Peace and Order personnel sa mga evacuation sites (We hope the public understands why we temporarily closed even if the storm has weakened. Our Peace and Order personnel are currently deployed and urgently needed in our evacuation sites)," Sotto explained.
