Cemeteries, memorial parks back to full capacity -- Mayor Vico

The Pasig City local government announced on Wednesday, Oct. 26, there will be no barangay coding scheme for visitations in cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaria in the city this coming “Undas”.

“Pagkatapos ng 2 taong "community quarantine" ay full capacity na ulit ang mga sementeryo natin sa Pasig (After two years under community quarantine, our cemeteries are back to full capacity),” said Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto.

The barangay coding scheme was first implemented in 2021 to limit the number of people and facilitate social distancing. Through the scheme, barangays were assigned a particular visitation date, wherein residents are only allowed to enter the cemeteries according to their respective schedules.

In the guidelines released by the Public Information Office (PIO) on Wednesday, Oct. 26, for Undas 2022, the local government urged the public to visit the cemeteries before Oct. 29 or after Nov. 2, if their personal schedules allow it, in order to avoid the influx of people expected in those days.

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals, people with comorbidities, senior citizens, and those who will bring their children are especially encouraged to schedule their visits at an earlier or later date.

The local government also said individuals who have plans to visit but are sick or displaying symptoms of sickness are requested to remain at home.

A “no face mask, no entry” rule will be strictly enforced. The public is advised to always wear their face masks and regularly sanitize while inside the cemetery, memorial park, or columbarium.

The local government also urges people to observe social distancing in their visitations.

Alcoholic drinks, firearms, sharp objects, and other items that emit loud noises are not allowed inside the areas.

Gambling is prohibited in the cemetery, memorial park, or columbarium.

The PIO also posted the respective schedules of the Pasig Catholic Cemetery, Pasig City Cemetery (Barracks), Santolan Cemetery, Sta. Clara Montefalco, and the Evergreen Cemetery.

Sotto previously shared that the local government has been preparing for Undas since Oct. 14.

He and other city officials joined the Oplan Kaayusan (OK) clearing operations to inspect the Pasig Catholic Cemetery on Caruncho Avenue on Monday, Oct. 24, and Santolan Cemetery on P. Lupo Street on Tuesday, Oct. 25.

The local government also held the final coordination meeting with the Pasig police, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and other affiliated groups on Tuesday to finalize the deployment plans for this coming Undas.
