The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has resumed the visitation privileges for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in the maximum-security compound, specifically Building 14-Special Housing Unit (SHU), of the National Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.

In a statement issued last Saturday, Oct. 29, BuCor said: “The Officer-In-Charge Director General, General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr., AFP (ret.) through the Acting Superintendent, NBP-MaxSeCom, CCInsp. Lucio C. Guevarra, is giving importance to the privileges of the PDLs to boost their moral and to ease their anxiety and homesickness despite incarcerated.”

It said family members of PDLs at SHU “can visit their loved ones on their respective schedules and visitors are highly encouraged to cooperate with the safety protocols and procedures of Building 14-SHU.”

“Body searching and frisking are strictly implemented by the Corrections Officers of the said prison facility to ensure safety among personnel, visitors, and our clientele,” it said.

“This will be done to avoid infiltration of any contrabands inside the visiting hall,” it explained.

BuCor had suspended visitation privileges of PDLs due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
