Here's what to expect
What’s better than a run-of-the-mill LED billboard? A 3D-LED naked-eye digital billboard (that’s a mouthful), of course! Who hasn’t seen them on social media? A giant 3D cat, a hand reaching out to you, or a shark, its jaws coming at you in glorious 3D. We see them in Korea, in New York City’s Times Square, in Sibuya, Tokyo! And we now have it here in the metro—in cosmopolitan BGC (Bonifacio Global City).
MB Lifestyle attended the evening unveiling of the new 3D-LED billboard, which is located in the posh One Bonifacio High Street (BHS)—home to the Philippine Stock Exchange and the venue of choice for street parties, weekend festivities, and other leisure activities.
The entire central lane of BGC’s 5th Avenue was closed for the event, where media and special guests awaited the unveiling of the new city attraction over food and drinks. After an exciting countdown, everyone was then wowed by the visual and auditory spectacle that commenced. No need to go to London Picadilly Circus to see such sights, we now have our own here in Metro Manila.
"The sensory impact of the BGC digital billboard is expected to engage audiences, transforming them into story-telling participants rather than mere spectators," said Chief Operating Officer of Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation Alfie Reyes during the unveiling of the 3D-LED billboard.
"The larger-than-life screen is now the landmark of BGC’s epicenter," Reyes continued. "Unlike 3D technologies of old, which require special spectacles to appreciate, BGC's naked-eye 3D-LED screen embodies the latest trend in graphic design and visual arts called Anamorphosis."
Anamorphic illusion technology is at the heart of these 3D billboards. It involves screen and distortion perspective art, which provides a realistic, vivid 3D illusion for spectators.
"Considering that BGC is known as the home of flagship global and local brands, from culinary delights to the arts, fashion, and lifestyle options, BGC's anamorphic display promises stories well told and experiences heightened," Reyes said.
At the launch of BGC's outdoor screen on October 27, the first set of advertisers included Disney, Netflix, Globe, Food Panda, and Maya. It was particularly entertaining to see the Disney adverts. We saw 3D commercials of "She-Hulk," "Obi-Wan Kenobi," and "Lightyear."
