WTFu by MR. FU: A newbie actor's frontal nudity

Up-and-coming indie actor Juan Calma dreams of becoming a teacher of Psychology, but showbiz gave him the opportunity he could not resist. (di rin kita kayang tanggihan bro!)

“First year college lang ako. Hindi ko natuloy kasi sa financial na rin. Yan talaga gusto ko makapagturo ng Psychology. Yung pag-aralan development ng tao. Pero may bigla nakadiscover sakin sa facebook. Pinag-aartista ako. Since wala naman ako work, sinubukan ko," Juan recalls. (subukan kita bro!)

He had his doubts if he could meet the demands of being an actor, but he chose to believe in himself. (suportahan kita bro!)

“Alam ko kasi na di ako marunong umarte. Kaya may mga natanggihan din ako noon. Pero nilakasan ko na loob ko, lalo na nung pandemya na wala income," Juan says. (may gcash ka po?!)

Juan’s very first acting experience is in the soon-to-be released film “Ang Bangkay” by Director Vince Tanada where he was asked to have frontal nudity in two big scenes. (ay agad-agad ha!)

“Nung una ang sabi, pwet lang daw ipapakita. Tapos bigla sinabi na pati yung harap na. Dalawa kami pinagpilian. Maganda rin katawan nung isa pero di nya kaya gawin yun. Ako inisip ko, kakayanin ko. Kaya pumayag ako,'' Juan shares. (ay madaling kausap ito!)

He really had to remove all his inhibitions for the sequences: “Yung mga staff nga at mga tao sa paligid parang nabuhay bigla nung ginagawa namin yung eksena,  lalo na yung sa ilog, kasi ang daming nanonood. Tapos yung isa naman sa ilalim ng puno,“ (pwede akong gumanap na puno ha!)

The 25-year-old former fitness instructor from Tondo who recently appeared as a guest on our online show, WTFu, is set to do other indie films which will also require him to do daring scenes. (so frontal ulit?!)

“Di ko naman talaga hinahangad na sumikat.  Para sakin trabaho lang ito. Pero kung sisikat, e di sisikat,“ Juan says. (naku baka pati pagsikat ng araw, ma-tense sa mga ginagawa mong eksena!)
