Convicted investment scammer dies at NBP due to heart attack – BuCor
The convicted mastermind of the P247 million investment scam has died due to heart attack while detained at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said on Monday, Oct. 17.
BuCor Deputy Director General Gabriel P. Chaclag identified the deceased person deprive of liberty (PDL) as Jhacon Rasuman, who was serving two life imprisonment sentences. when he succumbed due to “Mhyocardial infarction” on Sunday, Oct. 16.
“The incident happened at about noon yesterday (Oct. 16) during the conjugal visit of his wife. His colleagues rushed him to the hospital,” Chaclag said.
He said the remains of Rasuman has been claimed by the family. “The family appreciated the efforts of BuCor personnel in trying to save the PDL during that time and now wishes to respect their privacy,” he added.
Rasuman, who was arrested in 2012 in Marawi City, was the son of former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Bashir Dimaampo Rasuman.
The late Rasuman was tagged and convicted as the head of an investment scam that took more than P247 million from victims in the Philippines and in Singapore.
“Syndicated estafa po ang kaso at 2 life terms ang sentence (He was convicted of syndicated estafa and was sentenced to two life terms),” Chaclag said.
