Dalogdog vows more discipline in 1,200-strong Cebu City police

CEBU CITY – Col. Ireneo Dalogdog, newly installed Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) chief, vowed to instill more discipline in the 1,200-strong CCPO in support of Mayor Michael Rama’s “Oplan: Disiplina.”

Personnel of the 11 police stations should be well-groomed and their offices must be neat at all times, Dalogdog said.

“Policemen sporting mustache and long hair is prohibited. They must observe proper wearing of uniform,” added Dalogdog.

Dalogdog said smoking in police offices is strictly prohibited.

He noted that the city has launched Oplan: Disiplina in which several individuals apprehended for smoking in public places.

“Non-smoking in police precincts and offices is part of the Oplan Disiplina,” Dalogdog said.

He added that he will conduct surprise visits to check if his order is properly observed.

Dalogdog assumed as chief of the CCPO on Oct. 1.

The former chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Central Visayas replaced Col. Ernesto Tagle.

Dalogdog said that he won’t hesitate to penalize CCPO personnel caught engaging in any form of illegal activity.

“I have yet to reprimand a single police officer. As far as I know, we have good police officers here but if ever we discover a policeman who is involved in illegal activities or irregularities, we will not hesitate to impose necessary punishment.”

Dalogdog reminded station commanders to increase police visibility in their areas as petty crimes are expected to increase with the holiday season.

“It is expected that crimes would increase as Christmas is fast approaching as well as the Sinulog. The police should be more visible so that their presence will be felt by the public. This is the best crime-deterrence,” said Dalogdog.
