CEBU CITY—The new chief of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) formally assumed his post on Monday, Oct. 3.

Col. Ireneo Dalogdog officially took the reins from Col. Ernestu Tagle following a turnover ceremony at the conference room of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO 7) headquarters.
The turnover ceremony was presided over by Brig. Gen. Roque Eduardo Vega, PRO 7 director.
Tagle, who was named CCPO chief last January, said he was grateful that he was given the chance to lead the CCPO.
With Tagle as its chief for at least eight months, the CCPO intensified its anti-illegal drug and anti-illegal gambling operations.
Several most wanted persons were arrested during Tagle’s stint at CCPO.
From January to September, 37,528.55 grams of shabu worth P255,194,140 was seized out of the 1,400 operations that also led to the arrest of 1,613 illegal drug personalities.
Over 4,106 grams or 15,840 marijuana stalks valued close to P7 million and 76 unlicensed firearms were also seized during the period.
With Tagle at the helm, the CCPO conducted 1,828 anti-illegal gambling operations, resulting in the arrest of 3,143 individuals and confiscation of P189,621 cash.
Also, 1,123 wanted persons were arrested out of the 2,156 operations that were conducted.
Dalogdog, a member of the PNPA Kabalikat Class of 1998 and a former chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Central Visayas, vowed to make the most out of the opportunity to lead the CCPO that was given to him.
“As the newly installed City Director of Cebu City Police Office, I am ready to take on the challenge to lead the strong men and women of Cebu City’s finest,” he said.
Vega cited Tagle and vouched for Dalogdog.
“I am confident that the new city director, in the person of Police Col. Ireneo Dalogdog, will keep up with the challenge and lead the police force of Cebu City with utmost commitment, thoroughness, and efficiency. To the men and women of the Cebu City Police Office, I commend all of you for your eagerness and dedication to set the peace in Cebu City as we continuously fight all forms of criminality. This occasion reminds us of our conviction to achieve the reform goals set by our PNP leadership.”
