The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is eyeing to hold the special election in the 7th District of Cavite next year.
In an interview, Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said they will hold the Cavite special polls in March 2023 if the December 2022 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections pushes through.
If the BSKE is postponed, he said, they are looking into the possibility of setting it late December 2022 or January 2023.
During the Laging Handa public briefing Wednesday, Sept. 21, Laudiangco revealed that the poll body is already preparing the guidelines, resolution for the holding of the special polls.
He said they are looking at using the automated elections in the said exercises as it is less expensive and the results are faster.
"The machines are available anyway. We will just have to prepare the program and print the ballots," said Laudiangco.
It was in July when the House of Representatives passed a resolution declaring a vacancy in the 7th District of Cavite which was left vacant when Jesus Crispin Remulla assumed as Secretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
