Warner Bros. recently confirmed that Keanu Reeves is reprising his role as John Constantine.
It added the sequel for "Constantine" has been green-lighted 17 years after the original hit theatres.
Keanu played the popular DC character back in 2005.
The film, directed by Francis Lawrence, featured Keanu as the chain smoking, “cynical exorcist with the ability to perceive half-angels and half-demons in their true forms.”
There, he co-starred with Rachel Weisz, Shia LeBeouf, Tilda Swinton, Djimon Hounsou, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Gavin Rossdale and Peter Stormare.
Despite earning $230 million worldwide, “Constantine” drew mixed reviews and criticisms, particularly for Reeves’ dark-haired, American portrayal of the character.
In the comics version, John Constantine is both blond and English.

Over the years, the movie has amassed a cult-following and is considered as one of the better stand-alone DC comics features in a long list of critically bashed films in the DCEU.
Keanu has admitted in past interviews that he himself has tried to get a sequel going for years but failed to get it off the ground. That is until the recent announcements from Warner Bros.
According to Warner Bros., “Constantine II” will be directed by Francis again, with Akiva Goldsman writing the new script.
Akiva will also produce the film via his own Weed Road Pictures outfit along with J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella.
