Bulacan town plebiscite on Jan 14

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has set the plebiscite to ratify the conversion of the Municipality of Baliwag in the Province of Bulacan into a component city to be known as the City of Baliwag on Jan. 14, 2023.

The poll body set the date of the plebiscite in Resolution No. 10834.

In the same resolution, the poll body also revealed the calendar of activities in connection with the plebiscite.

Based on the calendar of activities, the Plebiscite Period is from Dec. 14, 2022 to Jan. 21, 2023 while the Information and Campaign Period is from Dec. 14, 2022 to Jan. 12, 2023.

On Plebiscite Day, voting will run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Comelec said counting of votes shall immediately begin after the close of voting, to be followed by the canvassing of votes, and proclamation of results.

Republic Act No. 11929 entitled "An Act converting the Municipality of Baliwag in the Province of Bulacan into a component city to be known as the City of Baliwag" lapsed into law on July 30, 2022.
