Almost 10,000 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City received last August their booster shots against Covid-19, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.

In a statement, BuCor said the booster shots were administered to the PDLs last Aug. 4, 5, 8, and 10.

“As the Covid-19 continues to circulate globally, this activity manifests that BuCor is not only focusing on its mandate of safekeeping and reformation but also giving importance to the health of every PDL,” it said.

“The Bureau of Corrections under the leadership of Director General Gerald Q. Bantag is always ready to improve the health system of the Prison Facilities for the well-being of our clientele, the PDLs,” it assured.

It said the vaccination drive was conducted by the BuCor’s Directorate for Health Services (DHS) headed by CCSupt. Henry N. Fabro with the help of the BuCor’s Inmates Visitation Services Unit and the Health Office of Muntinlupa City.

BuCor Deputy Director General Gabriel P. Chaclag had earlier said that BuCor’s PDLs have been free from Covid-19 since last January.

“Since Jan. 30, 2022 ay zero case na ang BuCor both PDLs and staff. (Since Jan. 30, 2022, there have been zero Covid-19 cases among the PDLs and prison staff),” he said.
