More than 700 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro have received their booster shots against Covid-19, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said on Monday, Aug. 15.

“Sa kabuuan, mayroong 705 na PDLs ang nabakunahan at ang malaking bahagi nito ay ang kanilang 1st and 2nd booster shots (A total of 705 PDLs had gotten their Covid vaccines and most of them received their first and second booster shots),” BuCor said.

“Matagumpay na naisagawa ang isang araw na ‘Pinaslakas’ Vaccination Program para sa mga Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) sa Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) – Central Compound noong Biyernes, ika-12 ng Agosto, 2022 (The ‘Pinaslakas’ Vaccination Program for persons deprived of liberty of the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) – Central Compound was successfully conducted last Aug. 12),” it said in a statement.

Last March, BuCor Deputy Director General Gabriel P. Chaclag declared that the bureau’s prison facilities have been freed from the Covid-19.

“Since Jan 30, 2022 ay zero case na ang BuCor both PDLs and staff (Since Jan. 30, 2022, there have been zero Covid-19 cases among the persons deprived of liberty and prison staff),” Chaclag said.

He attributed BuCor’s success against Covid to “prevention measures, vaccination, and the vitamins we are giving to PDLs and staff.”
