The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has called on government agencies and private business owners to employ released persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) for them to re-start their lives and be productive citizens.
The call was aired as BuCor released 99 more qualified PDLs from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City last July 15.
Of those released, eight of them had been acquitted of their criminal charges, 50 had been granted parole, 40 had served their prison terms, and one whose case had been dismissed.
BuCor said that PDLs in its seven prison facilities nationwide undergo trainings and seminars on various livelihood programs while in detention and lectures to avoid committing criminal offenses.
“Ang BuCor sa pangunguna ni BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag, ay patuloy na naghahanap ng paraan upang isakatuparan ang ganitong klaseng programa para sa ating mga PDLs at handang umaksyon sa mabisang proseso ng kanilang paglaya (The BuCor under the leadership of BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag will continue to find ways to achieve such programs for PDLs and is ready to act for the effective processing for their release),” it said.
It also stressed that BuCor’s External Affairs Section (EAS) and Directorate for External Relations (DER) have been reaching out to various government agencies and private business owners to help those released to re-start their lives and be accepted in society.
Last June 27, the NBP released 76 PDLs from its medium and minimum- Security compounds.
