The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now fast-tracking the construction of a farm-to-market road in Nueva Ecija, which is expected to boost the agriculture-related economy in Cabanatuan City.
In a statement, the DPWH said the 1.4-kilometer farm-to-market road in Barangay Balite is expected to provide faster and safer route for farmers to transport their fresh produce and farm goods to Nueva Ecija’s major markets.
DPWH Sec. Manuel Bonoan said the project, which costs P11.6 million, is currently in full-swing to meet its target completion date this in July 2022.
“The road project is part of the convergence program between DPWH and Department of Agriculture (DA) to support local agricultural economy in the country by providing much-needed road infrastructure both in urban and rural areas reliant on farming industry,” said Bonoan.
