ZAMBOANGA CITY - Three persons, including the supporter of a reelectionist mayor, were injured in a grenade explosion in Kalawit, Zamboanga del Norte on Monday, March 3.

The victims were identified as Arnold Yu Lubaton, 69, reportedly a staunch supporter of the reelectionist mayor of Kalawit, and his companions, Honeylete Pagador Labina, 33; and Renel Elmenzo Labina, 38.
Investigation disclosed that Lubaton had just arrived home from the barangay hall of San Jose, Kalawit and the Labinas were inside their house when a still unidentified suspect lobbed a hand grenade in front of the main door.
The victims were taken to the Liloy Integrated Hospital for treatment and declared in stable condition.
Police are investigating if the incident is linked to Lubaton’s support for Mayor Salvador Antojado Jr.
