Cardinal Advincula unveils full-size replica of Shroud of Turin at new Manila museum

A full-size replica of the world-renowned Shroud of Turin is now on display at the newly inaugurated Holy Face of Jesus Museum in Manila.
In a statement on Tuesday, March 4, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said the 4.4-meter-long replica was unveiled during a special blessing and inauguration ceremony led by Cardinal Jose Advincula.
The replica, which mirrors the original linen cloth believed to be the burial shroud of Jesus Christ, was created using advanced laser technology.
American photographer Barrie Schwortz, who was the official photographer for the Shroud of Turin Research Project (STuRP) in 1978, oversaw the production of this replica to ensure its authenticity.
Schwortz provided a certification that the replica is an accurate and authorized reproduction of the original, which allowed the HFJ congregation to display it publicly.
The Holy Face of Jesus Museum is located within the convent of the Sisters of the Holy Face of Jesus congregation on F.R. Hildago Street in Quiapo, Manila.
It features not only the Shroud of Turin replica but also a selection of other religious artifacts, including the memorabilia of the congregation’s late foundress, Mother Mary Therese Vicente.
The congregation received the replica in 2019, but it was only on March 4, which is the Feast of the Holy Face of Jesus, that it was unveiled to the public.
Although the museum remains closed to visitors for the time being as it undergoes final preparations, it is expected to open to the public next week.
