Two persons who were allegedly selling land with fake titles have been arrested during an entrapment operation in Zamboanga City, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said.

Arrested last June 1 by agents of the NBI’s Western Mindanao Regional Office (NBI-WEMRO) were Indira T. Pulalon and Amelito W. Waliji, the NBI said in a statement.

“On June 2, 2022, the arrested subjects were presented for Inquest proceedings before the Office of the City Prosecutor, Zamboanga City for Violation of Article 315 and Article 172 of the Revised Penal Code (Estafa thru Falsification of Public Documents),” it said.

It said the operation was conducted based on complaints of two persons who were referred to the NBI by the Office of the Registry of Deeds of Zamboanga City.

The Office of the Registry of Deeds informed the NBI that the victims had presented 11 spurious tiles.

“The complainants stated in their affidavit that the landholdings were sold and mortgaged to them by four (4) individuals including the arrested Subject Pulalon. The complainants were able to shell out P13,460,000,” it said.

When Pulalon offered another piece of land last June 1 to the victims for P1.5 million, the NBI-WEMRO arranged an entrapment operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspects, it added.

Meanwhile, the NBI said its WEMRO is pursuing the hunt for three more suspects.
